It is hard not to have favorites in a litter, and it is usually the ones that tug on your heartstrings the most that get the biggest seat in your heart.  This beautiful little girl also unfortunately got tagged by mama :/  Mom tried to avoid stepping on a sibling, lost her footing and her toenail scraped down the belly of my sweet Casper.  Although it was just the dermis, it was still a pretty big injury.  The vet had us cut the toe out of a sock and we used that to cover her bandage.  She was such a trooper and you would have never even known she had been injured.  Appetite never slowed, snuggles never stopped, and her confidence/trust never waivered.  When the movie Casper came out in 1995, I was dealing with a very difficult personal loss.  There is a scene where Casper whispers, “Can I keep you?”  It was everything I felt in my soul at the time and it touched me quite deeply.  A simple plea to “please don’t leave me.”  As I sat snuggling my little sock wearing pumpkin, I whispered to her, “can I keep you?” and her name became Casper.  The last pup I had with an injury this extensive was our “Bronx” Guaardian Prince von Gottschalk, nearly a decade and a half ago.  Unfortunately, in the case of Prince, mom managed to completely rupture his abdominal muscle so it was a much more extensive injury.  “Bronx” Guardian Prince Von Gottschalk – Guardian Rottweilers  Thankfully, little Casper was just skin deep, however, still a very big injury for such a tiny puppy.  I have included some photos of her healed belly at the bottom of her page so you can see how big the scar is.  Just like with Coraline and Caroline, the correct family for Casper will love him BECAUSE he is special, not despite it.  This baby is very special to me, so the home we find for her will need to be special too.  Dr. U said there would be no issues moving forward other than the scar since it was only the dermis, but there is no guarantee that the scar will fade so her family needs to love it as much as we do and see that it is her badge of courage <3

Casper is a big, strong, compact, beautiful pup with great bone and substance and a strong, typey head.  She is a very dark female and I cannot get enough of that beautiful face.  Casper’s personality is just the absolute best (not that I am at all biased 😉 ).  She has had even extra ‘people’ time as everyone fought to hold her lol  so she is a born snuggler.
