I Litter: Walter x Qi’ra

Guardian Rottweilers’ I Litter
Sire: Guardian Walter von Gottschalk
(Odin vom haus Vujic x Yazmine Vom Ali Haus)
Dam: Guardian Qi’ra Von Gottschalk
(Doctor Timit-Tor x Guardian Illusive Von Gottschalk)

Born 25 September!!
Sorry, there are no pups available in Qi’ra’s litter.

This breeding brings together 2 of my most coveted bloodlines in the last decade; 4 generations of Guardian Rottweilers, 3 generations of working Certified Service Dogs, and some of the most consistently produced exceptional temperaments all into one pedigree.  This is Qi’ra’s retirement litter, her Magnum Opus, and I am SOOO STOKED to meet these beautiful babies!

“Lazlo” Guardian Isadore von Gottschalk
Merry Christmas from Lazlo (Isaac) and the Pulleys???

He is not pleased with his outfit but tolerating it long enough for Mommy to get a pic.
Also his vet appointment on Dec 9 th went great. Dr. Seward was quite impressed with his amazing temperament. Our next one is on Dec 30th. Have a wonderful holiday, Amy

Just wanted to give you a heads up that Lazlo (Isaac) is having surgery next week on his right eye and now the other eye is doing the same thing. I guess it is called Cherry eye. Our vet said even though it is not common in Rottys, that it could be genetic so we wanted to let you know. Otherwise he is an absolute, playful, really smart dream puppy. He is our whole world. He should be fine afterwards. In case anymore cases pop up in your litters we thought it would be best to let you know. Have a blessed day,
Amy

All dogs (and cats) have a 3rd eye lid called the nictitating membrane.  When this membrane gets dislodged, it can get swollen causing a pink ‘bubble’ at the corner of the eye commonly called cherry eye. Although very common in more brachycephalic breeds (flat faced breeds, like the English Bulldog), it can happen in any animal with the nictitating membrane.  The procedure to tuck it back into position is relatively straightforward and no downtime after the surgery (other than the cone of shame lol).  There are many ways it can become displaced- impact to the face, rough play, even an upper respiratory infection, however, because it is more common in brachycephalic breeds, there is thought to be some genetic component to predisposition as well.  Ensuring both parents have their eye exams and knowing the genetics on both sides of the pedigree are important considerations when deciding if the pairing will be repeated in the future.

Good afternoon <3

Thank you so much for the update <3  I concur 100% with your veterinarian.  It is not as common in this breed (I have had maybe 3-4, including Lazlo since I started breeding), and there is always a chance that there is a genetic component so very careful consideration should be given before repeating the breeding that produced that litter.  Since Qi’ra is retired, that of course will not be an issue, but I will definitely want to keep an eye (pun intended) on Walter’s progeny moving forward.  Very grateful for the heads up.  I do also agree that it is a relatively routine procedure and, other than the cone of shame 😉 , he should be back to himself in no time.  I had another customer, a few years back, that had one of our Guardians that had cherry eye in both eyes also- it was my P Litter out of Goliath Timit-Tor.  I am linking the litter page here so you can read everything they sent me in case it proves helpful to you <3  I do not have any direct experience (knock on wood), but always try to share any secondhand knowledge that might be useful.
P Litter: Goliath x Ina – Guardian Rottweilers
Give Lazlo some loves for me <3  And let him know some of the greatest Rottweilers in the world have done time in the cone of shame 😉
Alice

Thank you for the info. He will not be happy with the cone of shame but will hopefully be back to normal in no time. Lazzy has such a big personality. We bought him the Big Barker doggy bed so we could all cuddle with him in the living room and I find myself and my husband on bed while Laz is sprawled out on the couch lol. Have a great day,
Amy

Lazlo had his 2nd cherry eye surgery 2 weeks ago and this little (maybe not so little) goober is doing great. We finally got to get back to our walks on the towpath. The vet said we could take off the cone for walks.

Every now and again I may send you a pic of the gorgeous guy!!

Take Care and God bless, Chuck & Amy

“Bear” Guardian Icon and “Raven” Guardian Dallas
Hi Alice,

Hope all is well with you and the family! We are doing great and are really ready for spring lol.  So we decided to give Icon his call name…”Bear” and he is definitely a Bear. He’s close to 50lbs now and is still all legs, skin and bones!  I can’t imagine how big he will be when he starts to fill out.  He’s still a lovable sweet boy…he compliments Raven very well in that aspect…she was not impressed when we first brought him home and it took a while for her to accept him into the our “pack”. But she has come around and dare I say she likes him and maybe even a bit more then that!  He cries when she’s not around and follows her everywhere lol. She will actually disappear to her crate because she needs alone time.  He’s still a fly away ear fella, so he spends most of his weekdays taped up and we give him Saturday off. Lol. Have a great day and talk to you soon.
Phil
